Issue will be settled soon, promises Azad
''The long-pending issue of a separate Telangana state will be settled soon,'' AICC in charge of Andhra Pradesh Ghulam Nabi Azad said here on Sunday.
Azad was in Hyderabad to attend a function on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi.
Interacting with mediapersons at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport upon arrival, he said consultations with elected representatives of all three regions of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema were completed but there is need for more consultations on the issue at the national level.
“I have submitted my report to Sonia Gandhi but we need more consultations at the national level. I cannot tell you the exact date but we will try to settle this issue as soon as possible,” he said. “The high command is aware of the aspirations of the people of the region. I can’t say we will do it tomorrow or day after but we are trying to settle the impasse as soon as possible.”
Azad appealed to government employees in Telangana to call off the strike, saying it was causing inconvenience to people.
