Hosur Subbarao passes away
Hosur Subbarao popular as H S Rao, died of a massive heart attack at his Lakshmipuram residence in the city on Thursday night. He was 74.
One of the founders and managing partner of Aravinda Parimala Works, he was one among the leading industrialists of the city as well as State. He was one among the concerned public who started private Dasara along with another veteran D Jayadevaraje Urs, when navaratri was stopped for a few years due to some reasons.
He leaves behind wife Ratnamma, son Hrishikesh, daughters Kavita and Sushma and grandchildren. H N Ramathirtha, a known name and another managing partner of agarbathi factory is his younger brother. The mortal remains were cremated at Harischandra Ghat near the foothill of Chamundi.

Born to H N Ayya, a freedom fighter and Vishalakshamma, H S Rao was one of the leading philanthropists of the city. He was the founder of Sri Rajarajeshwari Temple in Visvesvaranagar, and Bharati Old Age Home, patron of Chinmaya Educational Institution and ex-chairman of Sarada Vilas Educational Institution. Besides, he was also the dharmadhikari of Sringeri mutt and former treasurer of Sahukar Channaiah Kusti Akhada.
He was a three time winner of award given for exporting best quality agarbathis (incense sticks), from the department of industries.
