Renukacharya gets ‘threat letter’
Excise Minister M P Renukacharya has received a letter threatening to blow up his houses if the minister does not pay a ransom of Rs 20 lakh.
According to the police complaint lodged by the personal assistant of the minister, the letter, received through speed post, asks the minister to keep the money in a bag at Chowdeshwari Temple, APMC yard on Honnali-Shimoga Road on October 12.
The postal cover bears the name of the sender T Mohan Kumar, Hospet Hakkal, Sorab taluk. Mohan has claimed himself to be a member of the disbanded LTTE. The letter also warns of ‘trouble’ if the threat is brought to the notice of the police.
Renukacharya, speaking at a press meet, termed the incident on ‘act of mischief.’ He said he won’t seek security in view of the threat.
