Murugesh alias Thambi of Dhommanagadde in Kollegal taluk, who is the prime accused, is a Ajjipur Grama Panchayat member.
Chennaraju alias Mahadev of Hosahalli, Satish, Arun of Ajjipur, Nayaz of Kurubaradoddi and Abdul of Kaudalli are the other arrested. The police seized two tusks and two bikes from the arrested. The team had laid out a trap for elephants at the BRT Tiger Reserve and the Kollegal forest range.
On the pretext of buying tusks members of the special squad succeeded in arresting the poachers.
