On the highway of adventure
Cycling away
From being the common man’s mode of transport to a status enhancer, the bicycle surely has come a long way.
Recently, the City saw the opening of one-of-its-kind cafe, ‘Coffee and Cycles’, which was launched by Track and Trail, the premium performance division of TI Cycles. The cafe aims to blend coffee, cycles and cycling accessories under one roof.
German mountain biker Hans Rey inaugurated the cafe in Koramangala and even interacted with some of the cycling enthusiasts in the City and took them on a small ride and showed some of his stunts on the roads of Bangalore.
The cafe offers its customers a place to view and buy international bicycles and also create a forum for like-minded people to meet and share their passion for cycles.
Besides serving as a hub for cycling enthusiasts, the place also has a service centre, where people can get their cycles serviced and enjoy a cup of coffee while they wait. Zameer Ahmed, who is working with the cafe, says cycling groups in the City are growing strong.
“The weather and cosmopolitan culture are helping the City grow as a cycling hub. The cafe is being promoted as a meeting point for hobbyists where we plan to even organise events related to promotion of cycling,” he said. Zameer added that the cafe will also be open to screening documentaries and clippings related to all kinds of cycling.
The place also aims to be a meeting point for veteran cyclists to come forward and share their experiences and expertise to youngsters, said Rajesh Mani, GM-Marketing of TI Cycles of India. After launching the store and signing autographs, Hans Rey expressed his happiness on having such a concept.
“I feel this cafe will prove to be an excellent forum for cycling enthusiasts to connect with each other on a regular basis. And I found some very enthusiastic bunch of cyclists out here in the City,” he added.
