UAS to fete teachers, scientists
The University of Agricultural Sciences will confer awards on three scientists and three teachers on its 45th Foundation Day to be observed on October 15.
The best teachers’ awards will be given to Prof Ramakrishna Parama and Prof Srikanta Murthy from GKVK Bangalore campus, and to Prof C J Sridhar from the Agriculture College, Shimoga. The scientists selected for the award are: Dr M Byregowda, Professor of Plant Breeding for his research in red gram; Dr Pandurangi Gowda, Associate Director research, Zonal Agriculture Research Station, Mandya for inventing hybrid maize variety and Dr K M Srinivasappa, programme coordinator, Krishi Vikas Kendra, Doddaballapur for transfer of technology, training of farmers, etc. In addition, certificates and cash rewards will given to 30 scientists on the occasion.
For the first time, the annual Krishi Mela will be a national event this year with 10 lakh farmers expected to participate. The focus of the mela will be on farm technology and research and recognising young agriculturists who have introduced innovative methods.
