Actress Sadhana gets bail in defamation case
A magistrate today granted bail to yesteryear actor Sadhana who appeared before the court in a defamation case against her filed by builder Yusuf Lakdawala.
The magistrate at Bandra court granted the actor bail of Rs 5000 with surety or cash of same amount.
The court had issued process against Sadhana who had made allegations in a section of the media that the builder had issued death threats to her to vacate her 3,000 sq ft suburban Santacruz residence.
The 68-year-old actress, known for lead roles in films like 'Mera Saya' and 'Woh Kaun Thi', resides since many years on the ground floor of two-storeyed 'Sangeeta' bungalow owned by singer Asha Bhosle, while the accused Yusuf Lakdawala stays on the second floor, police said.
Actress Baby Naaz lives on the first floor, police said adding all the three are tenants.
Sadhana had in August last year lodged a complaint with Santacruz police accusing Lakdawala of issuing death threats and trying to force her to vacate her house in Santacruz.
Sadhana had alleged that Lakdawala wanted to redevelop the property for which he has been terrorising her and asking her to leave the ground floor residence, police said.
