Tata Steel Q2 sales down 1 per cent
Tata Steel, world’s 7th largest steelmaker, on Friday, said that its sales from domestic operations fell one (1) per cent in the July-September period to 1.65 million tonne.
The Indian operations of Tata Steel account for about a quarter of the group’s total annual global capacity of about 28 million tonnes, which includes Tata Steel Europe (formerly known as Corus UK), which is Europe's second-largest steelmaker.
The company said sales of flat products, used in cars and consumer goods, rose 3 per cent from a year ago. However, it did not give any details over sales of long-steel products, used mostly in construction industry.
The company’s crude steel production in India stood at 1.74 million tonnes for the quarter, up 1 per cent, the statement added.
