Despite literally lifting its plotline from Korean flick “A Millionaire’s First Love”, and locating it in the local milieu, director Ashok, however, turns “Pilla Zamindar” into a routine and regressive fare sans sparkle or sizzle.
Lethargic and lackadiasical in its treatment, it does have its mirthful moments in the form of comic interludes which salvage it from the morass it sinks into.
The hashed-up fare focuses on a filthy rich zamindar who sets conditions by which his grandson can inherit his property. The grandfather wills his wealth to the grandson after his son and daughter-in-law are killed in an accident, making amends for his past decision wherein he had deprived his son the property for marrying against his wishes.
Well, will the grandson, habituated to lavish lifestyle, and devil-may-care disposition and cocking a snook at elders -- be it family or college -- turn a new leaf so that he inherits the property? Troop into the nearest theatre to find out. “Pilla Zamindar” runs on a familiar
