The team, led by CBI DIG V V Lakshminarayana, comprised of more than 15 staff of the Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh units of the investigating agency.

The probe team conducted inspections and collected information with regard to the mining activities.

Survey officers and ore quality examiners accompanied the CBI team which conducted raids on the mines of Deccan Syndicate Mining, owned by Rajendra Jain and which conducted transactions with Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) owned by Janardhana Reddy.

While the mines of Deccan Syndicate Mining are adjacent to those of the National Mining Development Corporation in Kamathur village of Sandur taluk, those of Associated Mining Company are located near Jaisinghpur.

The team checked the quality of ore available in the mining areas, the extent of land under mining and their mining area boundaries with the help of available maps.

Lakshminarayana later told reporters that the inspection of the mining areas of these firms was being conducted to ascertain their business links with OMC, as per the directions of the Supreme Court. The inspections would continue, he said.
