Kerala MLAs suspended for protesting
Two MLAs of the Kerala Assembly, James Mathew and T V Rajesh, were on Monday suspended for interrupting the Speaker’s announcement over the October 14 clashes that rocked the legislature.
The House passed a motion suspending the members for two days, moved by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, following which the opposition members staged a sit-in in the Assembly.
The ruling United Democratic Front (UDF) had earlier accused the two MLAs of attacking and injuring the Assembly guards, including a woman, prompting the Opposition to criticise them for spreading rumours about their members.
