Blocked drains posing health problems in Shidlaghatta
Weeds and wastages have blocked the drain in the entrance of Shilaghatta which has made the surroundings filthy.
The drain constructed to make the water flow when the Gowdana Kere (lake)was overflowing. This has turned out to be a filthy drain which is stagnated.
This comes under Irrigation Department’s purview, City Municipal Council cannot take any action regarding this. Still, on the direction of the Deputy Commissioner, some parts of the drain was cleaned by the CMC. The Minor Irrigation Department should take action, said Channegowda, Chief Officer at CMC.
The people have all the reasons to worry as another drain situated near the bus stop is also stagnated. There is a auto stand just next to the drain. There are shops and vegetable, fruit market and hotels. Thus, this drain is also posing danger to health, says V Manjunath, who runs a shop near bus stop here.
