Guv must quit, says BJP MP
BJP MP D B Chandre Gowda on Tuesday demanded that Governor H R Bhardwaj either resign or the President should recall him since a police case is registered against him in New Delhi.
A Delhi-based advocate, Vishwanath Chaturvedi, has filed a case, charging Bhardwaj of misusing his authority as Union Law Minister in 2007 to stop a CBI investigation into the assets owned by former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulyam Singh Yadav and his family.
He has also named former solicitor general Goolam E Vahanvati and three others as co-accused.
Addressing the media in Bangalore, the BJP leader said: “The Governor has sent the chief minister of Karnataka to jail. He has also sent some ministers to jail. The people of the State should also know the history of Bhardwaj.
“He is in trouble because of the police case. Bhardwaj, who is a lawyer himself, should know that he should not continue in Raj Bhavan as he is an accused.”
Gowda said he would raise the issue in the coming Parliament session if Bhardwaj doesn’t resign on his own.
