According to the International Airport Police, Ravi (32) was knocked down by the speeding vehicle operated by Global Ground India. He died of injuries on the spot.
Ravi, a native of Gauribidanur, is survived by his wife, two daughters aged two years and eight months, respectively.

The speed limit set for the vehicle is between 5 and 30 kmph whereas it was being driven at more than 40 kmph. There are nearly 500 such vehicles and many of them are not registered, it is said.

Case of negligence

However, the GGI employees claimed that they had obtained permission from the authorities concerned. A case of negligence has been registered against the company.  Srijith, the driver of the vehicle has been arrested, said the police.

According to sources, Bengaluru International Airport and GGI tried to hush up the incident in view of the safety regulations of Director General Civil Aviation, which would  hamper the GGI operations.

The Airport safety department staff did not bother to turn up to the spot, the sources added.

The post mortem was conducted at government hospital, Devanahalli and the body was handed over to the victim’s family.

Found dead

An unidentified man was found murdered in Attibele. Police suspect that the victim was a driver from Tamil Nadu who had came to Attibele for a drink.

Empty liquor bottles were found near the body.

The murderers had stabbed the man in his mid-40s, and crushed his head with a boulder.

“There is a ban on liquor in Tamil Nadu in wake of Panchayat elections. The victim along with some other people might have come to Attibele,” said Attibele police.
The police are in touch with the Krishnagiri police in Tamil Nadu to ascertain the identity of the victim, and the culprits involved in the case.
