Punj Lloyd to build more Metro stations

Last Updated 20 October 2011, 05:57 IST

Disclosing this, S S Raju, CEO (Infrastructure) of Punj Lloyd said on Wednesday, “finishing the construction of these Metro stations on time was our top priority and we are happy to announce that we executed the project ahead of schedule. The metro stations on MG Road and Trinity Circle in their splendour will definitely prove to be the new-age landmarks of the City.”

On April 16, 2009 BMRCL gave the contract to Punj Lloyd for pre-cast construction and civil work for these stations.

“Punj Lloyd’s expertise and knowledge of working in challenging environments along with the solutions deployed to overcome these challenges have helped the group to become the first contractor to complete both the stations in April 2011. The group deployed a strict traffic management plan for both pedestrians and motorists to avoid traffic jam and to reduce the inconvenience caused to the public in general,” he added.

Expecting good footfalls, the MG Road Metro station is equipped with self-guidance with prominent signage at all points. In addition to the two elevated metro stations, Punj Lloyd erected a foot overbridge on MG Road in just one night to offer a safe cross over to and from the station, Raju said.
