Trends in men’s fashion
One wonders whether long hair and a small plait can be called a new trend.
Men also have fashions. The only thing is that men may take longer than women to change over to new fashions.
At present we see men with a light beard. Even on very important occasions like an important interview or even marriage they do not shave clean. Look at the movie actors or even business tycoons — all have a very light beard. May be two or three days’ growth.
How they manage to have such light beard is a wonder to me. During our days shaving clean was considered to be a great point of order. True, if you did not want to shave you could grow a beard. Either fully grown or nicely trimmed. I feel that it is easier to shave clean than to have a light beard. If you have a light beard as per present fashion and then shave it off after two or three days it’s okay. But I see our young men with the same light beard always. Never seen them shaving fully.
One wonders whether long hair and a small plait can be called a new trend. Men did have such things in the past also. Has the number of such men gone up now?
Another trend in men’s fashion is that they have started wearing sleeveless apparel like T shirts and other dress. Are they trying to vie with women in this case? If so, it would be a poor attempt because they can never have the appeal women command by their sleeveless blouses or dress. Also men wearing sleeveless dress do not bother much about shaving the underarm hair!
A less seen (for the present at least) trend is the untying of the knots of neckties. Men have started doing away with their ties though the coats or jackets are still on. We can see many men these days with coats but without ties even on formal occasions. One wonders why the ties have been given a go by while the coats are still on. The tie is worn because of the coat. One can wear a shirt and tie without wearing a coat.
The ear ring is also a new item of fashion. Some have a ring on only one ear.
I am not sure whether they have a preference for the left or the right ear. But some others wear rings on both the ears. One wonders, if the ears have been chosen will the nose be far behind? A friend told me that he has seen a man with a nose ring. I am willing to give anything to see such a person. Wonder whether the navel will come next?
Some young men already look like girls because of the way they dress. Will the ear rings and nose rings (when they come) complete the picture.
