When doctors let their hair down
‘KAOS’
The Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) held its grand intra-collegiate festival ‘KAOS’ recently.
An exclusive affair for the students of KIMS, the three-day long event boasted of a number of cultural and sports events. It provided the perfect platform for all the budding doctors to showcase their abilities. The college also completed 25 years recently so there was all the more reason for celebrations.
The main events were held from October 21-23 but the fest started on October 3 itself with events like quiz, singing, ‘antakshari’ etc. Be it basketball, football, carrom, chess or table tennis, those with a sporty streak had a gala time taking part in a number of games. While those with a love for adventure tried out the ever-popular game of paintball at the KIMS campus in Banashankari.
However, the best was saved for the last as on the last evening of the fest, the students had a grand get together called ‘Kimsomnia’, which was organised by the 2006-batch of the college The organising committee, which had worked hard for the fest, was delighted at the response from the students. Said Suraj Revanna, the cultural secretary of KIMS, “Hundreds of people attended the get together and had a great time. We also had a number of cine stars coming in for the fest on different days. For instance, on one day, we had actors Doddanna and Diganth and veteran cricketer Chandrasekhar coming in, while on another day actor Upendra was the chief guest. For the get together, the guests of honour were actors Yash and Ragini Dwivedi.”
Shashi, who is doing his internship at KIMS, took part in a number of events like pot painting, skit and medical quiz. He even came first in pot painting and quiz. “It was a really nice experience and in the five years that I have been here, this was one of the best fests I have attended. Especially on the last day of ‘Kimsomnia’, we all had a lot of fun,” he said.
According to him, paintball was the best part of the fest. “I couldn’t take part in it but I saw everyone else enjoying it. Out of 600 students in the college, 250 took part in paintball itself,” he added. “We also felicitated our professors, which made me a happy, as they truly deserved it for supporting us and working hard for us. All in all, it was a completely memorable experience that I will cherish for life,” he summed up.
