Tipsy man falls to death
A 27-year-old man fell to his death from the fifth floor of a pub on Church Street on Friday night.
The Cubbon Park police have identified the dead as Sourab Behara, a resident of KS Layout.
The victim, Sourabh from Chhattisgarh, was a student of Shirdi Sai Engineering College in Anekal. He was also into freelance web designing.
Police said, he was in an inebriated condition when the mishap occurred around 11.55 pm. The hotel staff alerted the police, who shifted Sourabh to hospital. He had fallen on the roof of an adjacent building.
The body was shifted to the Bowring Hospital mortuary. According to the pub staff, Sourabh might have missed the steps and slipped from the building, under the influence of alcohol.
However, the police are not ready to buy the pub version. According to the police, the CCTV cameras of the pub were also not working.
Guard killed
A 45-year-old security guard was smothered to death during the wee hours of Saturday at Rama Gondanahalli in Whitefield. Thammaiah, a resident of Tumkur, is the dead. He was working for a veterinary doctor, Dr Somaiah.
According to the police, he might have been killed during an attempt to burgle the doctor’s house. His body was found outside the house.
The main door was also damaged and the culprits might have tried to forcibly enter the house.
Dr Somaiah had returned from the USA a few days ago and had left for Coorg.
His son was residing in the house and had even spoken to Thammaiah before retiring for the day, the police added.
Biker killed
A youth died in a road accident after a speeding truck rammed into his bike on NH-48 near Nelamangala on Friday night. Harish (25), a resident of Sakaleshpur, was returning after visiting Yediyur temple.
