They alleged that Manjunath, the Head Constable, attached to JP Nagar police station, insulted advocate Santosh Kumar. The Head Constable dragged the advocate’s shirt, while the station sub inspector, Srinivas, used abusive language.

Situation turned tense after efforts of the police to pacify the angry advocates failed.
However, DCP (South) TG Krishna Bhat and DCP (Central) Dr G Ramesh rushed to the spot, held a meeting with the advocates and brought the situation under control.

According to the police, one Srinivas Rao, a resident of JP Nagar lodged a complaint against Santosh Kumar alleging that he gained forceful entry into his house and threatened him.

The Head Constable went to the Cubbon Park to fetch  Santosh Kumar for questioning in connection with the case.Santosh Kumar refused to accompany Manjunath to the station.

Manjunath contacted the SI and informed him that Kumar was not willing to come. The SI contacted Kumar and directed him to come to the station immediately.

The advocate instead went to the court premises and staged a protest along with his fellow advocates.

After tense moments in the court premises, the advocates lodged a complaint with the Halasuru Gate police station.

Second incident

Meanwhile, the City police Commissioner Shankar Bidari told reporters that it was the second time that Santosh Kumar is involved in a similar incident.

A case was registered against him with the Banashankari police station for threatening a person a few days ago. In that case, he had threatened a person over a cellphone.
Later, he had surrendered before the court and deposited Rs 10,000 as security deposit to get bail.

The department will initiate disciplinary action if the JP Nagar police are found to have been erring, the commissioner said.
