As she speaks to Metrolife about her upcoming projects, the actress is unable to control her excitement.

Pranitha plays a bubbly character in Shashank’s Jarasandha opposite Duniya Vijay. She has high hopes from the film.

“The songs, especially Neerige Baare Chenni, have already become popular among people. Another song sung by Upendra is also doing well. I must give credit to director Shashank, who is known for making quality films,” she says.

Interestingly, Pranitha has another project with Vijay, directed by Om Prakash Rao. She has already started shooting for this film, which is yet to be titled. However, she clarifies that she accepted both the projects because they had good scripts.

“Both are two different kinds of films. In Jarasandha, I play a bubbly model. In Om Prakash Rao’s film, I essay a foreign-returned girl who is highly educated and has no idea about village life. Both Shashank and Om Prakash Rao are acclaimed directors and I always wanted to work with them. When I accepted Om Prakash’s film, the hero was not finalised. Accidently, Vijay was chosen as the protagonist. But it was nice working with him again,” she reveals.

Though Pranitha didn’t work in any Kannada film soon after Porki, she says the break was unintentional.

“After Porki, I got a lot of good offers from Tamil and Telugu industries and there was no point turning down those offers. I consider myself lucky for getting such good opportunities. I have tried out a lot in very little time.”

Pranitha has one more project in Kannada called Snehitaru opposite Darshan. “This is a multi-starrer and I am so happy to work with Darshan again after my first film. That time, I was extremely nervous to act along with such an experienced actor. Now I am more confident and excited to be teaming up with him again.”

The actress wants to work with as many directors and actors as possible. “I want to work in many languages. By working with different people, we learn a lot of things. I want to appear in variety of roles. These days, female characters have less scope compared to heroes. But that should not be the case. In that sense, working with Siddharth (of Rang De Basanti fame) in Baava was a wonderful experience. Baava was a love story and I shared equal screen space with Siddharth,” she opines.

Pranitha doesn’t believe in dieting and performs basic exercises to keep fit. “Being
a vegetarian has helped me a lot in maintaining my fitness,” she says. If she hadn’t been an actress, what she would be doing now? “I would have probably joined an engineering college and studied further. I was a studious girl,” she beams.
