Bomb threat at High Court sends cops into a tizzy
Did the cops pull a fast one on Wednesday morning when they announced there was a bomb threat at the High Court? Well, it appears so.
Hours before B S Yeddyurappa’s bail plea came up for hearing at court hall 34, a bomb squad, a dog squad and hordes of security personnel were frantically scouring the area for “bomb.”
Rather, were they sanitising the area for the former chief minister’s arrival, one wondered.
After a thorough check, the security personnel, declared the bomb threat a hoax. Sometime later, when the media began digging for information on the origin of the threat, neither the police top brass, nor the court administrative staff could give a convincing answer.
Initially, a section of the media was misled by some sources that the court staff had received a mail/letter about a possible bomb threat at the court. But in the end, it was discovered that it was the cops’ way of ensuring additional security on the court premises. And we know where all the securitymen armed with stun guns were. Outside court hall 34.
