MLC slams MP for comments against ex-PM

Mysore, Nov 6, DHNS:

Venting his ire against MP Adagur H Vishwanath, MLC Chikkamadu said the former was a publicity hungry person and is making vain comments about former prime minister H D Deve Gowda.

Addressing a media conference here recently, Chikkamadu said making comments is common in a democracy. However, before making a comment on a person, they should give some thought to their words. He slammed Vishwanath for making baseless accusations against the former prime minister. He said Vishwanath, who hadn’t fought for the right of the farmers in his 35-year political career shouldn’t make any such comments.

During the implementation of the Upper Krishna Project (UKP), Gowda had released Rs 300 crore as the chief minister and Rs 4,000 crore as prime minister. Allegations had been made about 16 years ago about piece-work contacts. CBI has already conducted an investigation and said that there weren’t any irregularities.

According to the Bachavath commission decision, the work on the UKP had to be completed before the year 2000. Since nobody had come forward to implement the tender worth thousands of crores, piece-work contracts had been given. He said Vishwanath should consider the facts and figures before making any allegations.

Congress leaders are responsible for BJP coming to power. Vishwanath hasn’t spoken even once about the corruption in the BJP government. He is wasting time by making comments against leaders of JD(S).

The true colours of Congress leaders would come to light once former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa comes out of jail. Vishwanath should understand that Congress hasn’t even won one seat in eight by-elections.

Illegal sand mining is rampant in the constituency of leader of opposition in the
Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah. Revenue, police department and many elected representatives are involved in illegal sand mining.

Hunsur, Periyapatna, H D Kote and K R Nagar taluks tobacco growers are facing a lot of problems, but Vishwanath hasn’t raised his voice for them. Instead, he is commenting about Gowda’s family, Chikkamadu said.

MLA Sa Ra Mahesh said instead of implementing a sand policy, district in-charge minister S A Ramdas is supporting illegal sand mining and creating scarcity of sand. Sand is being transported illegally all through the night, he added.
