The team raided the house of a Bangalore based businessman named Mansoor Hussain and rescued Minhas Buden, who was studying in sixth standard at Government Primary School, Begur in Tarikere taluk of Chikmagalur district.

When the team raided the house, a woman present in the house was reluctant to open the door, due to which the team had to wait for about 15 minutes. On opening the door, the woman put herself on defensive mode, refuting the allegation.

However, on searching the house, the girl was found locked up in one of the bedrooms in the huge mansion. The girl said that she hails from Guddadahalli village in Tarikere and her father’s name is Buden.

She was brought to this mansion in Mangalore 10 days ago by her brother Nayaz. The girl, however, expressing deep desire to go back to her village said that she wants to continue her schooling.

CDPO Gangadhar said that girl’s brother Nayaz had received financial help from the owner of the house Mansoor when the prior’s leg was injured in a mishap. Gangadhar informed that the family of Mansoor says that the girl had come just to see her brother Nayaz who works for them and she would be sent back home in a couple of days.

“We will investigate into the matter and find out if the girl was kept as a domestic help or not,” said the CDPO adding that a case will be registered against the employer’s family on ascertaining the age of the girl after getting certificates from the school where she was studying. At present, Minhas has been sent to the Fit institution Prajna Counselling Centre in Mangalore. She will be presented before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
