‘Bring about awareness at ZP, TP levels’
Bangalore: Aug 19, DHNS

The Lok Adalat, which conducted a hearing on tackling the H1N1 Influenza menace, has said that the Government should create awareness on the flu at all the Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat levels.

During the hearing, the Adalat - comprising Justice V Gopalgowda, Justice K L Manjunath and member Yellappa Reddy - said that there should be a movement to prevent the spread of the disease.

The Adalat said that the Chief Secretary should issue a circulation in this regard, and suggested that the traditional system of medicine be promoted to enhance people’s immunity.

Earlier, several officials from the health department, doctors and heads of some of the leading hospitals spoke about the disease and their effort to contain its spread.

More kits
I R Perumal, Principal Secretary, Health, said that the State has ordered 10 more swine flu testing kits. “We already had two kits, and had obtained nine more of them. Now we have ordered 10 more,” he said.

He said that with two laboratories being insufficient, the government has approached Narayana Hrudayalaya, Mallya and Manipal hospitals. He said that Narayana Hrudayalaya has already agreed to share the facilities, while the other two are yet to consider it.
