According to a complaint filed by the victim Rohit's wife Neha, a police team headed by SHO Sunil Kumar raided their house in Rajender Nagar of Sahibabad on April 26 and illegally detained him, SSP Raghuvir Lal said.
Neha alleged as she failed to provide Rs one lakh demanded by the accused policemen for her husband's release, Rohit was implicated in a fake gambling case and sent to jail, the SSP said. He was later released on bail.
Despite Neha's repeated complaints, no action was taken against the errant policemen, but after the intervention of a local court, a case has been lodged against them last evening and state vigilance department has been pressed in to probe the matter, the SSP said.
