Baby girl looks just like Aishwarya, says Big B

Mumbai, Nov 22, (PTI) :

Proud grandfather Amitabh Bachchan, who brought home daughter-in-law Aishwarya and her baby today, says the newborn looks like her actress mother and will be given a name soon.

The 38-year-old actress was admitted to hospital on November 14 and gave birth to the ninth Bachchan two days later.

"Aishwarya had a normal delivery. She was firm on having so, despite being in acute labour for three hours. Aishwarya and the baby were brought home today. Both are doing well," senior Bachchan, 69, told reporters in their first media interaction since the birth of the baby.

"We first went to 'Prateeksha' as that is our first home. We took the blessings of my late parents and brought them to 'Jalsa' (another house of the Bachchans). We are happy that 'Laxmi' has come to our house," a beaming Bachchan said.

When asked about the baby's looks, Big B said, "I feel the baby has entirely gone on
Aishwarya. She looks just like her... eyes and all. Some family members feel the baby's face bears some resemblance to Abhishek."

Proud papa Abhishek, who was accompanying Big B, said "the baby is very nice and obedient... she does not cry and bother us much."

The family is yet to decide on a name for the child, but Bachchan said no naming ceremony is planned.

"Aishwarya and Abhishek both want that the baby's name should begin with A. We will decide on it in a few days and post it on Twitter," said Bachchan.

Abhishek, 35, joined in, saying, "My grandfather believed that finding a name is enough so we have never had naming ceremonies."

The new father also said that the feeling of being a parent is yet to sink in.

Aishwarya also made an appearance after the press conference. "She is very tired but happy and excited at the same time," said her husband.

Wearing an off white salwar kameez, Aishwarya posed for shutterbugs with husband Abhishek.

"Jaya (grandmother) is also very happy and she is taking care of the baby and the mother," Bachchan said.

Abhishek said he would resume work from Monday.

When Big B said he is "jobless" now that the game show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' is over, Abhishek chipped in, "No, he is not jobless, he is on the duty of taking care of his grand-daughter."
