Rajini to star India’s first ‘3D’ film

Chennai, November 24, PTI:

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth is all set to stage a comeback in India’s first ever 3-D film to be directed by his daughter Soundarya.

The actor had taken a sabbatical from acting after falling ill on the sets of ‘Rana,’ early this year.

Work for ‘Rana’ has been postponed until the release of the 3-D film ‘Kochadaiyaan’ in August 2012, a release stated.

This is the first time that a 3-D film with ‘performance capturing technology’ is being produced in India.

The technology has been put to use in the Hollywood blockbuster ‘Avatar,’ directed by James Cameron and the recent ‘The Adventures of Tintin,’ directed by Steven Spielberg.

Director of ‘Rana,’ K S Ravikumar,  has written the story, screenplay and dialogues for ‘Kochadaiyaan,’ besides supervising the direction.
