Convention on crimes against women
The All India Mahila Samskritika Sanghatane (AIMSS) has organised a national convention on crime against women at Ravindra Kalakshetra on November 29 and 30.
The convention will feature several workshops dealing with specific nature of the crime. Women, including professionals, working women from both rural and urban areas and students from 20 states will deliberate at the various sessions lined up for the convention.
The topics to be discussed at the workshops are: female foeticide, infanticide, domestic violence and dowry related crimes; acid attacks, eve-teasing and stalking syndromes; trafficking of women and children; honour killing; rape and politically motivated attacks; effect of media on growing crimes; menace of alcoholism and drugs contributing to growing
incidents of crime and atrocities on working women.
High Court retired judge Justice M F Saldanha; Kannada writer Vaidehi; Bangalore University Registrar Prof T R Subramanya; advocate and writer Bhanu Mushtaq; and writer and social activist from Kerala Prof P Geetha are among the resource persons.
