Both these awards carry a purse of Rs three lakh, the minister said. Besides, he said, the government has decided to felicitate noted Kannada writer S L Byrappa on being conferred with the prestigious Saraswathi Sanman award.<br /><br />‘CM should act’<br /><br />Referring to the controversial Made Snana at Kukke Subramanya, Karjol said Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda should take serious action against the practice. The government should take steps to eradicate superstitious practices, he added. The ritual has attracted criticism from all quarters and pressure is being mounted on the government to take stringent action in this regard.</p>
