<p>Manipal Energy and Infrastructure Limited CEO Rammohan informed that the waste comprising organic and inorganic are used and the segregation is done automatically through the process. The solid waste raw materials are put into waste speed bugger and later into blue tower for undergoing pyrolysis procedure. In this procedure, the reaction between silicon beads and waste will take place through the hot flow of sin gas treatment. <br /><br />During this reaction, lot of contamination is found following which the ingredients are run through scrubbing unit. The outcome is fuel through which the power is generated directly. The by product of the process is ashes that can be used for cement plants to manufacture ash moulds besides as fertilisers, he added.<br /><br />“The pyrolysis treatment is where the high temperature gas is formed. The machine is equipped with dry heater to dry the wet wastes. The investment for generating one mega watt power is as many as Rs 12 crores and about 60 tones of wastes can be used. <br />Nothing is done manually and everything is controlled through machines. The plant holds the capacity up to using as many as 100 tones of waste,” Rammohan informed.The house is yet to give its approval to the company. Udupi city generates waste up to 60 tones per day.<br /><br />The issues that were discussed during the meeting included the deplorable conditions of the roads and its repair in the backdrop of forthcoming “Paryaya”. Member M R Nayak expressed concerns over the condition of bad roads. He said “Paryaya” celebrations would start from Balaipadai-Kinnimulki road and the stretch is in a worst condition. The time is very short and the work should be taken at war phase.<br /><br />MLA Raghupathy Bhat said the funds were not released for repairing roads following which the work was delayed. <br /><br />A sum of Rs 1.10 crore is released for the purpose and the work will commence shortly, he added. As many as Rs 19.85 crore is released under Appendix-C programme for Udupi constituency. He informed that Rs 65 lakh is released for renovating the stretch extending to Parkala and Rs 2 crore has been released for repairing Peramapalli roads.<br /><br />Bhat informed that the Chief Minister has assured to release Rs 1 crore for “Paryaya” celebrations and it will be released shortly. Responding to a query from Congress member Jayanand, Bhat informed plans have been chalked out to construct flats for homeless at Manipal, Kodankur and Beedengudde areas. However, the proposal is in the initial phase. No government land is available to build houses for the needy. Purchasing the private lands proves costly, he opined.</p>
