Remembering the good old days
An alumni meet was held for the ex-students of the postgraduate department of management studies at M S Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce recently.
It was a homecoming of sorts for the students, who felt like they were reliving their college days. It was a memorable gathering of students from the earliest batch of 2004 to the most recent batch of 2011.
The meet started with a welcome speech by Satish Gopinath, the HOD of the postgraduate department of management studies, followed by an inspiring address by the principal Dr Sakuntala Samuelson. She shared her thoughts on how the alumni is an integral part of the college and its future activities.
A short video of the time spent by the alumni in the college was presented on the occasion.
It showcased some rare, cherished and enjoyable moments the students had during their time in the college. It brought back old memories and the time they spent with their batchmates and faculty members.
A captivating song by Sohini Gupta, a faculty of the MBA department, enticed
the audience.
On the occasion, the annual college alumni magazine ‘Re-member’ was released by the principal. The magazine, which was started in 2008, delves into the experiences the alumni had and keeps them updated of the latest events and activities of the college.
Said Vishweshwar of 2008 batch, “Alumni day is a good platform for meeting old friends, exchanging the views and reconnecting the lost links.”
A panel discussion was held by the alumni and anchored by Akash Nair, a first semester student, on whether or not the MBA degree had given them an edge in the industry.
The panel included Gopika Purdhani (Assistant Manager Finance, Reliance Communications), Saket Gunjan (Senior Manager Finance, Oracle), Pavan Kumar G (Management Faculty, HKBK College of Engineering), Harish Gowda (model and entrepreneur), Angira Majumdar (Associate Consulting Sales Manager, Oracle) and S Vishweshwar (Soft Skills’ Trainer).
A quality interaction session took place between the alumni and the current batch of MBA students.
The session was helpful in familiarising the current students with the expectations of the industry, the careers that remain unexplored and the experiences of the alumni.
