Punish my son if he is a terrorist: Aftaab’s father
“If my son is a terrorist, he should be punished as per the rule of the law,” said Sheikh Mohammad Ayub, father of Aftaab, the terror module, who was arrested in Purnia by the joint team of Intelligence Bureau, Delhi Police’s Special Branch and the Purnia police.
“But I have serious doubt over the claim of police that Aftaab is an extremist and was involved in the Delhi High Court blast,” said Ayub.
The bomb explosion had taken place near Delhi High Court on September 7, and since then the police have been trying to trace the accused involved in the blast.
Ayub, who runs a small kirana store at Jalalgarh in Purnia, said Aftaab was the youngest of the three children he had. “God knows how and when Aftaab became a member of Indian Mujahideen (IM), as claimed by the police. But so far as I know, I gave my children proper education with my limited means,” he said.
The Purnia police are, however, tight-lipped over the arrest. “We don’t have much information about the arrested person,” said Purnia SP Amit Lodha.
Sources, however, said that Aftaab was picked up by the intelligence sleuths as he was an active member of Indian Mujahideen, and was a suspect in the Delhi High Court blast case.
