Lecturers boycott classes for more pay
Good response in district
While the lecturers of pre university colleges are staging a stir against disparities in their payscale and boycotted the classes, the high school teachers too supported their demands by conducting classes wearing black band.
The lecturers of government colleges and stone building college and other colleges boycottedclasses from the morning and tried to grab attention of the government.
One of the lecturers Paramesh said that the lecturers boycotted the classes after signing the attendance register and the protest has evoked good response across the district. A protest rally would be taken out on Friday in the district and taluk kendras to intensify the protest and a memorandum would be submitted to the deputy commissioner.
The protest is being staged to stress the government to take a decision in this regard in the winter session of Assembly and would be continued until the government decides on the issue.
Black band
The high school teachers too extended their support by wearing a black band on their sleeves while on duty. Lecturers association president Ramakrishnaiah said compared to other states the wages paid to them are less in state.
MP Vishwanath in a release has opined that revision of wages is a must at a time when the prices of the essential commodities are on the rise.
Lecturers association assured that the classes for the students would be held in holidays and syllabus completed.
