Police station locked; Robbers loot shop
Miscreants have made away with gold valuables worth Rs 40 lakh from a jewellery shop located on B M Road in Sakleshpur recently.
The jewellery shop, Alankar Jewellers belonged to town municipal council member Santhoshkumar Jain. The miscreants had broke open the shutters of the jewellery shop and escaped with the jewellery.
Shivashankar, who had offered his prayers at temple on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanthi, was ,passing by, he noticed that the robbery was in progress. Shivashankar then headed to the rural police station, only to find the doors locked.
He later called PSI Nagaraj Honnuru about the theft based on which the police arrived at the shop, only to find that the miscreants had escaped. Shop owner Santhosh Kumar Jain had left for Rajasthan and only his son is said to be at home.
IGP (Southern Range) ASN Murthy, SP Amit Singh, ASP Kithale, Dy SP Upendra, inspector Ganesh visited the spot. Five special teams have been formed to nab the culprits. A case has been registered.
