TP to demand funds for repair of school buildings
Koppa taluk panchayat has decided to submit a memorandum to State Education Department to release funds for the repair work of 77 school buildings in the taluk, which are in deplorable condition.
During the general body meeting held under the presidentship of Panchayat President Prema Damodar, members expressed their concern over Kammaradi, Karangi, A G Katte and schools in some other areas of the taluk and demanded repair of the buildings at the earliest.
With regard to alleged mismanagement in the purchase of books for the school libraries at book fair under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Block Education Officer Prakash said that documents from every school of the taluk were checked and no mismanagement has been found.
“We have documents that books were purchased at 20 per cent discount,” he added. Meeting approved the proposal of buying computers for Social welfare Department and Education Department. Meeting reviewed the progress of every department.
Taluk panchayat Vice President Jayanth, Members Palani, Subhadramma, Rukmini, Padmavati, Lalitha, Narayan and E O Thippesh were present during the meeting.
