Last Updated 14 December 2011, 16:19 IST

The apps, seven in all, range from social networking app downloadable by existing IBM connections users for free.

“Lotus live meeting” for attending online meetings, “IBM Sametime” for greater participation and sharing documents real-time, instant messaging that even allows photographs to be embedded,, “Sametime Telephony” that allows internet calling facility and an app to access “Open Document Format” (ODF) based documents.

“Our idea is to let knowledge workers have all-round connectivity,” said IBM Country Manager for Lotus (IBM Software Group) Karthik Padmanabhan.

Available in popular mobile platforms like Android, iOS and BlackBerry, the apps are also based on the findings by IBM that nearly 73 per cent of business leaders allow mobile devices and tablet PCs of their employees to be connected to corporate network.

“Smartphones and tablets are most popular medium of computing currently amongst Indian enterprise workers. These devices are gradually becoming primary computing devices and it’s important that they have secured interfaces to work with corporate IT resources,”  Karthik said.
