Company defrauds people, lady arrested
Woman accountant of a company has been arrested in a case of alleged forgery related to dealership of a gas company, police said.
People from Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Haryana have been cheated crore of rupees due to the fraud, they said adding the owner of the company and his partner are on the run and raids are being conducted to arrest them.
The lady arrested by the Ichauli police in the district, Nidhi aka Nishi aka Nausaba, is a resident of Allahabad, police said here on Wednesday. Advertisement for a gas agency of one Indu company was published nearly a year ago and around 1,100 people from Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Haryana had deposited around crore in the company’s account.
The matter came to light when people did not get the agency even after depositing the money. Realising they have been cheated, affected people registered cases against the company.
Police investigated the matter acting on the complaint of a victim, Om Prakash, a resident of Gangasagar under Ichauli police station.
Investigations revealed that there have been reports registered against the company from many areas, besides Meerut.
