BSNL staff strike work
BSNL workers in the State joined their counterparts across the country in a daylong strike, after talks between the management and labour unions failed two days ago, without resolving any of the issues.
About 18,000 executives and non-executives took part in the strike across the State.
In Bangalore, protests were held in front of all the office. However, BSNL, Bangalore did not report any major disruption in services.
Procurement delayed
Some on the top management, in cahoots with private operators, have been delaying procurement of material for the State-run telecom company resulting in the decline of its popularity among people, the BSNL Joint Action Committee, Karnataka Circle has alleged. While private players have recorded high growth globally over the last five years, the BSNL has suffered losses, the JAC said. The protesters also opposed privatisation.
