OMC mining scam: HC suspends Rajagopal's bail
The Andhra Pradesh High Court today suspended the bail granted by a local court to former Director of Mines and Geology Department V D Rajagopal, an accused in Obulapuram mining case.
The CBI, which moved the High Court today requesting it to cancel the bail granted to the Rajagopal, saying that if the accused is released on bail, he would tamper with evidences. The AP High Court suspended the bail until further orders.
Earlier, a special court for CBI cases here yesterday stayed its own order to grant bail to Rajagopal on receiving a petition from the CBI.
Judge Nagamaruthi Sarma of the CBI court had earlier allowed Rajagopal's bail plea and granted him bail on a bond of Rs 50,000 and two sureties of like sum.
The court had also directed Rajagopal to surrender his passport and remain present before it on the dates fixed for hearing of the case.
