Palike to roll out Arogya Shree Yojane on Dec 25
The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will launch the Vajpayee Arogya Shree Yojane to provide healthcare for people from economically and socially backward sections of society in the City.
G Manjunath Raju, chairperson of the Standing Committee on Taxation and Finance, said the proposed scheme would, most likely, be launched on December 25 to mark the birthday celebrations of former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.
The scheme is aimed to benefit 30 lakh persons, including auto-drivers, slum dwellers, BPL card holders, disabled, widows and transgenders. After a meeting with the Labour Department, a decision will be taken to extend the scheme to construction workers and ragpickers.
