Lokayukta police exonerate Ashoka
The Lokayukta police have given a clean chit to Home Minister R Ashoka, following investigations into allegations in a private complaint which accused him of buying notified land.
The inquiry was handed over to the Lokayukta police by the Special Lokayukta Court on October 21. On Friday, investigating officer Abdul Ahad submitted a “B” report to the court, signifying that no available material could be found to connect Ashok to the allegations made. Charges have been dropped against B S Yeddyurappa and others as well.
The investigations, however, held Ashoka responsible for violating Section 79(A) of the Karnataka Land Reforms Act in providing false affidavits of his income to the sub-registrar in 2003 and 2007 when he purchased the two pieces of property in Lottegollahalli. However, this violation is outside the purview of the private complaint. The matter has been adjourned to January 17.
According to the complaint lodged by Jayaprakash Hiremath, Ashoka was responsible for purchasing two pieces of land in Lottegollahalli in Bangalore North Taluk, even though they were vested with the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA).
Subsequently, Ashoka had them denotified by then chief minister B S Yeddyurappa. The complaint has also named the original landowners, G Shamanna and Ramaswamy.
