BU re-exams at 5 centres on Jan 16
The re-examination for undergraduate and postgraduate courses of Bangalore University’s Directorate of Correspondence Courses and Distance Education will be held at the five study centres on January 16, 2012.
Results of the examination at 31 centres across the State were nullified in August/September after reports of mass copying. The examination was rescheduled for December 14, provided the centres installed CCTV cameras.
However, five centres — Diksuchi Study Centre, Davangere, Vishwa Bharathi Vidya Samsthe, Koppal, Sri Sugureshwara Education and Charitable Trust, Bellary, Bangalore College and Research Institute, and Shri Swami Vivekananda Vidya Samsthe, Chitradurga — refused to comply with the direction.
B R Niranjan, the Director of Correspondence Courses and Distance Education said on Tuesday that the examination would not be conducted without CCTV surveillance. “Institutes which cannot install the CCTV cameras can send the students to BU for the examination,” he said.
Meanwhile, the VC N Prabhu Dev, stressed that it was his decision to conduct the examination under surveillance. He hinted that the Registrar (Administration), B C Mylarappa, was not keen on the CCTV cameras, but he was determined about it.
