All-blind band sings Christmas carols
''We wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year,'' sang a group of six instrumentalists and six male and female singers across the City.
Nothing unusual during the Christmas season, but in this case they are a band comprising entirely visually challenged persons.
The “Call a Santa Claus and Christmas Carols” has been launched by IDL Foundation and IDL Band. Armed with guitar, accordion, dholak, djembe, double congo and cymbals, they plan to perform in schools, colleges, shopping malls, corporate offices, orphanages and old age homes or for any individual donors or families who call them.
“We raise funds for our charity through music,” says Manohar, the only blind guitarist in Karnataka and member of the IDL Band.
“The project was the result of our resolve to spread love, harmony and peace and make people happy during Christmas,” said IDL Founder and Executive Trustee P K Paul.
In the past, the IDL band has performed for many VIPs including presidents, cricketers and film stars.
Those who wish to invite the band may contact P K Paul on 9844011910.
