30 trains cancelled till Dec 31
The foggy condition prevailing across the North and East India has hit rail traffic badly. Owing to perennial delay of several trains, the Northern Railways has decided to cancel the services of at least 30 passenger trains till the year end.
“Fog is likely to prevail in coming days also. In view of the safety aspects of passengers, some of the passenger trains will remain cancelled, while some would remain partially cancelled from December 22 to December 31,” a Northern Railway spokesperson said.
Some of the passenger trains which have been cancelled include Delhi–Saharanpur Passenger, Delhi–Shamli, Delhi–Rewari, Hazrat Nizamuddin–Palwal, Delhi–Ferozpur, Sultanpur–Varanasi, Chandausi–Rishikesh and Ambala–Bhatinda Passenger trains.
Long distance
Several long-distance trains including Jharkhand Swarna Jayanti Express, North East Express, Puri Express, Mahananda Express were running late by several hours on Wednesday.
Rewa Express, which was scheduled to leave at 11.55 in the night was likely to leave only after 10 am on Thursday.
The maximum temperature recorded on wednesday was 23.2 degree celsius, while the minimum was 6.8 degree celsius.
The Met Department have predicted while the temperature would remain constant for another week, the mornings would have shallow fog.
