Lokayukta raid nets Rs 1.6-cr haul
The Lokayukta police on Wednesday raided the properties of Shirestedar Shashidhar Jagadeesh Madyala of Bijapur taluk office.
A team of police officials led by Bagalkot DySP S R Siddalingannavar raided Shashidhar’s house early morning and were able to seize properties worth Rs 1.16 crore. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act for possession of assets disproportionate to known sources of income.
Gold and silver articles worth Rs 5 lakh, household articles worth Rs 18 lakh, cash of Rs 27,306 and documents of a bank balance of Rs 45,851 were seized by the police.
In addition, documents related to a house in Bijapur worth Rs 25.46 lakh, lands measuring 9 acre and 21 guntas in Mahalabagayath in Bijapur worth Rs 13.29 lakh, a hostel building worth Rs 40.31 lakh and one site in Shashidhar’s name worth Rs 62,000 and three sites in his brother’s name worth Rs 11.26 lakh were also seized. Three motorbikes worth Rs 1.5 lakh have also been recovered.
