‘Let Bill not get diluted in wake of fight’
Law Minister S Suresh Kumar hoped the Jan Lokpal Bill would not get diluted due to the war between Congress and Anna Hazare.
The bill should reflect the aspirations of the public for a corruption-free society, he added.
Speaking to reporters here on Monday, he said: “Before any bill becomes an Act, debate among the people is necessary. The bill can have a meaning only if it is discussed. The people are hoping to have a strong Lokpal so that corruption can be rooted out. The Central government should take a decision after considering the demands of the people.”
He said: “A discussion would be held in the Parliament on the Lokpal Bill. BJP MPs will also participate in the debate. The war of words between team Anna and Congress is like a fight between husband and wife. This should be stopped immediately and focus should be on strengthening the Lokpal.”
Everybody knows that the CBI is a puppet in the hands of the ruling party in the government. It should be given an independent status, he added.
