Workshop on PLC & SCADA systems held
A five-day workshop on ‘Core Industry Oriented Automation — PLC & SCADA Systems’ was inaugurated on Monday at Vidya Vikas Institute of Engineering and Technology (VVIET) in Mysore.
The workshop has been organised by department of electrical and electronics, VVIET, in association with Automation & Control Systems (ACS), Pune.
Speaking on the occasion, resource person, Manu from ACS, said the aim of the workshop was to enhance the skill set of students in the light of industrial automation.
Explaining about PLC or programme logic controller, he said it is an industrial computer control system that continuously monitors any production line, machine function or process. Commenting on SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition), Manu said the reference is to industrial control systems (ICS) that is computer systems that monitor and control industrial, infrastructure, or facility-based processes.
Kaveesh Gowda, secretary, Vidya Vikas Educational Trust, VVIET principal B Chandrashekar, vice-Principal Shesha Prakash, dean Sriram, HoD Surekha Manoj, HR and placement officer Vidhya Munuswamy, assistant professor K B Kaveri, lecturer H Sheela and others were present.
