‘Madikeri-Sampaje SH will be ready by Jan 30’

PWD Minister C M Udasi said that the incomplete Madikeri-Sampaje State Highway will be completed by January 30.
Speaking to reporters, he said the road from Madikeri to Devarakolli is complete. Owing to the negligence of the contractor, there has been delay in the completion of the work. The pending work will commence from January 5 and will be completed by January 30.
The work on 164 roads at the cost of Rs 128 crore will be taken up in the district. A sum of Rs 38 crore has been utilised, he said.
The government has sanctioned development of 175 km road at the cost of Rs 50.12 crore under State Highway Development Project (SHDP). About 1,500 km road would be developed next year and the finance department has okayed the development of 700 km road.
MLA M P Appacchu Ranjan alleged that pseudo environmentalists are coming in the way of development of road and other basic infrastructure facilities.
Udasi said that the service of daily wage labourers working under various
departments may not be regularised. In the backdrop of Supreme Court directing the State government to regularise the service of daily wage labourers, the cabinet sub committee has been constituted.
RTO office
The work on RTO office situated on Abbey falls road near Madikeri is almost complete and will be inaugurated during end of January. Udasi inspected the ongoing work of RTO office. He said the pending work will be completed within 20 to 22 days.
The work was taken up at the cost of Rs two crore. The minister also discussed on the proposed flyover from General Thimmaiah Circle to Mangalore road on the occasion.
Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah said that there was no shortage of funds.
