The Human Resource Development Department of the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) organised a ‘Mock Corporation Competition’ at Seventh Day Adventist School auditorium on Spencer Road in Fraser Town, in the City recently.
The City is growing at a rapid pace and the infrastructure too is being expanded to match the growing population in the City.
In an effort to prepare the future generation in the City to match the challenges of a changing economy, the YMCA organised the mock corporation competition where the young students were taken through the process and procedure of how the Lok Sabha, Legislative assembly and the Municipal Corporation function.
This is the fourth time that such a competition has been organised and more than 500 students were introduced to a model corporation. The programme was designed in such a way that every school was given 30 minutes to enact and perform a corporation session that included: The mayor’s speech, question hour, passing a resolution and debate and assembly session.
About eight schools participated in the programme and 160 students took part in the mock competition. After a rather tough competition, the winners were: Seventh Day Adventist PU College St Thomas Public school, St Fathima High School, St Thomas School, Patel Public School, Cathedral School, Al-Ameen School, Seventh Day Adventist P U College and B M School.
