Lokpal Bill to be back next session, says Bansal
After uprorious scenes in the Rajya Sabha ending with the House being adjourned sine die, Parliamentary Affairs minister Pawan Bansal said the government will bring the Lokpal Bill back to the two House in the next assembly session.
Amid noisy scenes outside the Parliament House where Opposition members shouted slogans agianst the government, Bansal said it was the right of the government to decide when the House should meet.
"The Bill is live. It is with the Rajya Sabha. It willbe debated in the next session. We have to wait until it is debated and decided. We will discuss about the 187 amendmnets,” the minister said.
Opposition Leader in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley said: "It is a political and moral defeat for the govenrment. The govenrment should immediately resign. It stands thoroughly exposed. It conspired to avoid a vote in the House. The government had promised that the bill will be passed but it has failed to keep that promise."
As uproar continued, Ansari said, “an unprecedented situation has arisen. There appears to be a desire to outshout each other. There is total impasse. The House cannot be conduted in this noise. It requires orderly proceedings.
